After the Disabled God of War Became My Concubine v 3 by Liu Gou Hua

Finished July 19, 2026

THIS SERIES IS SO GOOD. We have one more volume to go, allegedly releasing in the first part of November. I’ll be sad when it’s over but I can’t wait to read it. I snagged some quotes this time:

He spoke as if he were making a vow, sincere to the point of being a bit childish, full of bravado and cocky self-assurance. It was as if he were a kid thumping his chest and swearing to protect his crush.

IS THAT NOT ADORABLE?

In the blink of an eye, both lanterns released by Pang Shao and his associate vanished. Amid the manifold ascending lights, their ashes plunged downward, silent and unseen.

Jiang Suizhou turned his head to stare at Huo Wujiu in astonishment. Huo Wujiu just grinned shamelessly back at him, his head tipped to the side playfully and his now empty hands resting lightly on his knees.

For a second, Jiang Suizhou’s heart seemed to stop beating.

This was how Huo Wujiu made a wish on his behalf?

No, this was more akin to a deity on high deliberately plucking out his wish from among the masses, simply so he could bring it before his eyes and tell him: See? Whatever you desire, I’ll give it to you.

Huo Wujiu got to show off quite a bit this volume and it was great.

We also got a love rival (pfft) this volume, and her words to live by:

So what if he was a cut-sleeve? There was no harm in appreciating the view.

So true, sister.

We also got this:

And now that he was part of that rich tapestry, he wouldn’t allow the tale to unfold as it had before. He refused to live in a world where evil men prospered, loyal generals and ministers met tragic ends, and the common folk suffered needlessly. But most of all, he couldn’t bear to see Huo Wujiu walk the path laid out for him: crowning his treacherous cousin emperor, then exiling himself to guard the remote Yangguan frontier, haunted by the memories of his past glory and tragedy.

He wanted his beloved Huo Wujiu to remain vibrant and untamed forever.

Which was not only beautiful but reminded me a little bit of another beautiful line in Golden Kamuy when Sugimoto is talking to Wilk about how “I want Asirpa to hunt deer and eat brains and make citatap and say hinna, hinna!” ANYWAY, moving on…

Before he could answer, Huo Wujiu had shoved the officer backward with enough force to send the large man stumbling several steps.

“Didn’t I teach you not to spout nonsense?” Huo Wujiu barked. “Look carefully. This is the Prince of Jing, and I’m his concubine. He’s my husband.”

The word “husband” landed like a boulder. The man’s eyes bulged.

Huo Wujiu pulled Jiang Suizhou against his side with one arm.

“A wife follows her husband’s lead. All I own belongs to him, not just this measly throne. Even if I conquer the world, every inch of it will belong to him. Understood?”

For a long, tense moment, the imperial study was dead silent. The lower-ranked general was so stunned he thought he might be dreaming, and Jiang Suizhou was almost as startled himself.

After the officer left, Jiang Suizhou wasted no time in dragging Huo Wujiu into the bedchamber behind the imperial study.

Did I scream and read this part two, maybe five times? Absolutely no blaming Jiang Suizhou here—I’d drag him to the bedchamber too after that. (Kidding; that’s totally not why he got dragged into the bedroom.)

But speaking of bedroom…

What Huo Wujiu lacked in experience, he made up for in enthusiasm.

YESSSSSS. Always one of my favorite lines to read.

As you can tell, I really loved this one. The first two volumes were fantastic and I’m beyond thrilled the series is holding strong as we head into the final volume.
